Our Positions

The League of Woman Voters of Palm Beach County (LWVPBC) supports the positions and programs of the League of Women Voters US and the League of Women Voters of Florida.

Unfettered Access to Voting:

We support the right of citizens to vote, and we denounce voter suppression laws and procedures that create obstacles to voting.

Quality Healthcare:

We support the right for every woman to have access to quality healthcare, including the right to abortion and birth control. This work is accomplished by working with community partners and providing information and education to all citizens.

We actively work:
•    To ensure passage of Amendment 4 on the November 2024 ballot, which will limit government interference with abortions,
•    To provide access to reproductive rights and choices for all.

National Popular Vote:

We support the non-partisan National Popular Vote, which will guarantee that every vote in a presidential election counts and that every vote counts equally. We support this work through Floridians for National Popular Vote  and nationalpopularvote.com, as well as our chapter’s National Popular Vote Team.

States choose how to award their electors. Under National Popular Vote electors will be awarded to the presidential candidate who receives the most popular votes nationwide. National Popular Vote will take effect when enacted into law by states possessing 270 electoral votes, the number needed to elect the President.

Public Schools with High Standards:

We support a free public school system in Palm Beach County with high standards for student achievement and with equal educational opportunity for all. And we work to guarantee these schools are adequately financed by the state through equitable funding formulas.

Community support, accomplished educators, and a superintendent and school board that value collaboration, respect, and trust are vital to the success of our schools and our students. We support the school district in its efforts for a referendum to fund capital outlay projects as well as future efforts to raise money locally to fund our local schools.

Our support extends to adequately funded public higher education system as well as a prek-12 system that is accessible and unbound by restrictions to academic freedom.
