League of Women Voters of Florida Recommends:

Vote NO on Amendment 1

NO = Keep School Boards Non-Partisan

Partisan School Board races would:

-Exclude voters with No Party Affiliation or a different party from those candidates running.

-Increase political polarization in general.

-Introduce political turmoil into the running of schools.

Vote NO - so schools continue to be about Education...not politics!

Vote YES on Amendment 4

YES = Limit Government Interference in Reproductive Rights

Floridians deserve the freedom to make personal medical decisions, free of government intrusion!

-Don't let the government interfere with a patient's decision to have an abortion before viability.

-After viability, if necessary to protect the patient's health, the decision would be between patient and healthcare provider.

-The amendment does not mandate unlimited abortion or override parental notification.

Vote YES - limit the government's current interference in reproductive rights.

For more information about Amendment 4, visit YES ON 4 (Floridians Protecting Freedom).

Vote NO on Amendment 6

NO = Keep Public Campaign Financing

Floridians passed a Constitutional Amendment in 1998 to put Public Campaign Financing in the Constitution.

This matching fund program for specified candidates, "...gives small-dollar donors a greater voice and encourages candidates to seek support from broad groups of voters. Public campaign financing enables candidates who are not wealthy or have limited access to financing to run for office..."

Vote NO - so public campaign financing remains in place.

Vote YES on County Referendum

YES = continue 1/2 cent sales tax

These funds will help purchase, maintain, and repair structures and equipment for Palm Beach County students.

The District needs to maintain its more than 30 million square feet of facilities, including:

  • replacing aging roofs
  • renovating restrooms
  • upgrading lighting and HVAC systems
  • enhancing school security
  • purchasing buses
  • updating technology for students and teachers

All District-operated and charter schools in Palm Beach County will benefit from this measure.
